Outhouse at Pastor Carlos's House

Pastor Carlos's Outhouse filled up to the brim. So he needed some help to build a new one. Here we are with some of the youth digging out the hole. Thanks to Jesus for the helpers.

Isaac one of Pastor Carlos's friends came out from the colony San Antonio to help us dig the hole. The hole was about 25 feet deep when donw

Visiting Cesar's Farm

Cesar is one of the men that go to our church. He lives a ways a way and takes the bus in to go to church or walks. He lives near la verbena a river that is a about 3 miles away. He also works a farm that is near the verbana. So we went with him to his farm. Learned how to pull out yuka (a local crop) and about his plans for farming. We were able to minister to him and fellowship as we walked. We will be going soon to help him pull up his beans which are almost ready. That will be a lot of fun. Cesar has decided on his own that he'd like to give half of his crop to the church. Thank you Jesus! Pray for Cesar and for his growth in Jesus.

Pastor Carlos, Hector, Cesar, and myself on the way to his farm you had to cross several man made bridges.

Loosing a mother

Please keep Zouhali in prayer. She is a youth that had been going to our youth services a few years back and then moved to Costa Rica. She is now 15. She has come back now. But under some very difficult circumstances. Her mother was shot about 6 blocks away from the church and also another family member was shot, a little girl and she's in the hospital in Juigalpa. The man who shot them shot himself on the way to the police station here in Nueva Guinea. Zouhali comes back to Nueva Guinea with her boyfriend and a baby on the way. Her grandmother lost a daughter and Zouhali lost her mother. They and the family are very sad and have been crying a lot.

We went to visit them at the wake and stayed up all night with the family. We had service as they asked us to. We also prayed at the funeral. We plan to go back and visit them on Sunday after the morning service. Pray that God begins to heal their broken hearts. That they will lean on Jesus who is near to the broken hearted and can relate the best to them. I personally am saddened by their loss. You can see the pain in their faces and cries.

Thank you for your prayers in advance and prayers also for their salvation. For Zouhali that she reconciles with Jesus and for her boyfriend that would receive Jesus. Also for the mom and the rest of the family for their salvation and the comfort only Jesus can give. Jesus our ever present help in need, our Rock, Comforter, and our Healer.

Online Radio is back up!

So it took about all night last night. I was blessed to help Pastor Leon from CCSGV last night as he worked on the computers through the internet. The internet problems have been fixed and the online Radio is up! Thank you Jesus!

You can listen online at the following link

http://media.radiocalvario.com/escuchaahora.html

The radio has a hard time buffering and skips when you first open it. Pray that gets fixed. So to listen to the radio when it starts skipping pause it for about 3 seconds then hit play again and it will play fine.

Keep the radio and its ministry in prayer. We're planning a Corn festival on the 22 of February so pray that we are able to touch many lives with the love of Jesus and the corn products that are sold will help further the work of the Radio. Thank you so much again for all your prayers and support!

His Face at the Laguna

When we go to someone's house if they are a friend at least some of the times we just go to hang out with them. To get to know them. And that we have to do face to face. This was David's heart in Psalm 27. To know God to seek his face, to know him, to be with him. We went to the Laguna today with the youth. The Laguna is a small pond where the kids go swimming, fishing, or just to hang out. So we took them down there and we talked about David's relationship with God and had them think about their own relationship with God. I also got to test out my new duck call from Duck Dynasty. No ducks came this time but I couldn't see any either. Keep the boys in prayer.

We'll be going to home bible study tonight at Nubia's parents house. Pray for Nubia's mom she has lost feeling in her arm and is in a lot of pain. Above all don't forget to seek Jesus today, spend some time with Him.

Internet Down

So the internet is super slow right now. It took me a very long time to be able to post this simple text message. All of Nueva Guinea has been under internet maintenance for the past few days. So our connection speeds are horrible. The online radio is down.  We can't get on our normal email. Pray the issue resolves quickly as God has the power. As Peter when to Jesus when he had a problem so we too have the same access. we can come to Jesus who has the answers and the power. And whether that means taking a fish out of the sea that is filled with money to fixing an internet problem, He is sufficient. So we put the whole thing in God's hands and we can rest. Thanks again for all your prayers.

The Radio Station is a real blessing to many in Nueva Guinea. Like Air 1 or K-Wave in the states it is something the people get used to. We are now praying and gathering information on how to support the radio station. I'm currently getting info together to see if businesses would like to support the radio. Or put an announcement for their business on the radio and then they'd give a donation for the radio. We're praying for God to guide this process. Because really we'd like not to put announcements on the Radio. You can help seek God asking him for provision, knowledge and wisdom for the Radio. We're looking forward to what God has for the radio in 2014.

Mango Tree

This last few weeks has been busy with Pastor Carlos gone. Me and Hector have been doing the teachings and Jose from Managua came to help with the youth centers. We also just recently got to plant a mango tree that is about 15 feet tall. It had been in a box for a few years. So we planted it. We we're really having a hard time trying to figure out how to plant it because it weighed about 1 ton. So after praying about it we made a call and the mayor ended up sending us the bull-dozer to help plant it. The youth helped us fill in the hole and it was a good time of fellowship.

Help From Calvary Chapal Managua

We were blessed this week to have Jose come from Calvary Chapel Managua. He has taken the inductive bible study course so he has been able to help at the youth centers and do devotionals with the kids. This is a huge help as Pastor Carlos and his family are on their furlough after the passing of Lucrecia, Pastor Carlos' mom. Here is Jose helping us get ready to paint the future Radio Studio Room 1. Mold here is a reality, and paint helps us to control the spread of mold in the humid environment.

Danny and Katherine, the 2 interns right now, are also blessed to see a faithful servant from Nicaragua and have been blessed by his example. Jose will be here for a few more days. Keep him and the ministry in prayer. And thank God as He sees the need and meets it. Thanks again for all your prayers and support we appreciate it.

Much love from all of us at Calvary Chapel Nueva Guinea!

Death and Life - Passing of Pastor Carlos's mom

Pastor Carlos's mom Lucrecia just died and we had her funeral last night. The funeral's here are very different in that they happen at the house usually where the deceased lived or grew up. So we had it at Pastor Carlos's brother's house which is his neighbor. Their funerals here are all night and the whole town is invited. Cars are sent out to announce the death, the cars drive around with speakers mounted to them so that everyone knows what happened. On Wednesday night at 2am Lucretia was rushed to the hospital in Juigalpa, that is 2 hours away from our town, where she passed away. This happened unexpectedly for the Arteaga family but God has been very close to them and has really blessed their family with his presence during this painful time. Pastor Carlos was able to do a devotional with all that came and there was a sweet time of worship. Continue to pray for the family as we go to bury his mother today. There will be a funeral procession on central street to the cemetery. Help celebrate the life of Lucretia by praying for strength and God's touch in the lives of the family. Lucretia was a mother that instructed her children in God's ways and always had a joyful testimony, even through her many years of continual pain.

Thank you for your prayers for Pastor Carlos and his family through this rough time. There were several expenses for the family like buying the plot of land to bury their mom, and also the casket. If you'd like to help them out with these expenses they would appreciate it. The cost of the funeral was about U$300.

Special Christmas Service

We were able to have a special service. In Nicaragua pretty much all the Christmas activity takes place on the 24th. Usually people rest in the morning and then in the afternoon they spend it with visiting other family members and then in the night they have dinner at one of the family member's houses. So we decided not to having anything on the 24th. The activity we did do was on Sunday night the 22nd. We started out with prayer and then worship, then we had a small devotional, followed by a special time where the church could come up and sing any worship songs that they'd like to sing. Then we were able to eat together as a church. They did a potluck and everyone brought something. One of the youth came to Jesus through the night. Pray for those that came and the families that don't always come that they would choose to follow Jesus wi

Song I did called, "Your Eyes"

Service went went well tonight. William brought some of his friends from the Catholic Church. His son also graduated from Preschool today. I met some of his family and friends at dinner at his house and after we all went to church. Pray for his wife and also his family that God would bind the enemy and help them to see God free from the distractions of idolatry and tradition of catholicism.

Below is a song that I did a while ago thought that I’d Post it.

Sports

In Nicaragua the main sports are in this order soccer, baseball, and then boxing. We play soccer and baseball. This last week we played baseball with the kids. It is an awesome opportunity to spend time with them and then God opens the door for them to hear about Him. Attached is a video of the men and youth playing soccer in the park. Thought you might enjoy watching

Festival de Cantos also known as "Nicaragua Has Talent"

We are having an event for the Radio Station this Saturday. It is called Festival de Cantos, which means Singing Festival. The event is going to be kind of like American Idol but with Christian songs. So we have invited people from the town, the other churches, and the colonies to come out and to come support the work God has been doing in the radio by singing their favorite Christian songs. We have some singers from different churches and different towns and are praying that it would be a night that glorifies God. There will be lots of food, snacks, drinks from our church and food the community will be bringing. The event will be this Saturday at the church at 5pm and end at 11pm. Pray for the event and that it is a blessing to the town of Nueva Guinea and a blessing to Radio Calvario.

Thank you Jesus!

The power is out right now. So you can hear the humm of the generator in the background. The Generator runs the radio station when the power goes it. Today the power went out at 9am and right now it is coming up at 4pm and no power yet. Thank God that he provided this great tool! At the moment those that have taxis can still listen to the radio and be blessed by God's word and worship. It is a blessing to be without power as it helps us to appreciate it when there is power. I never really appreciated the power very much in the states and not until I came down here did I truly appreciate how much God has blessed us with the invention of electricity!
