Back from Furlough

I’ve been back for about two weeks now and I’m adjusting well! I thought I’d share a few pictures of what has been going on lately. Some of you knew that the kids from the local school, Ruben Dario, needed to relocate while their school campus is being renovated. They were originally going to come study on our facility, but didn’t need to after all. They instead are occupying two houses across the park from us, and the central American church building right down the street. This means that during recess, the park is full of kids, and many of them make their way up to youth center even if for only twenty minutes. It’s nice because kids that live farther away and wouldn’t normally be allowed to come over are able to be here, so that’s been a blessing. I counted thirty kids one day!

Aside from that, as pastor Greg has mentioned people from church here have been fundraising for the church roof, as it is in bad condition. Since their corn festival where they sold food and used clothes, the ladies have been working together to make and sell lunch after Sunday morning services. The Sunday before last they made Sopa de Res (Beef soup), and this past Sunday they made Nicaragua’s version of Menudo which they call Sopa de Mondongo. They sold out fast, and they were delicious!

September 19th they plan to do another fundraiser where everyone participates. That should be good.
